An Appeal to Animal Lovers to feed the Street Animals during COVID Lockdown Period

       The Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board is taking all the possible measures to mitigate the sufferings of Street Animals that are perpetually dependent on the largesse of the animal lovers and Members of Animal Welfare Organisations throughout the State for their food. Due to the lockdown, in order to support the endeavour of the animals feeders, the Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board has proposed to raise funds from good Samaritans through donations for feeding of street/community animals by procuring feed for them. A separate bank account has been dedicated for the above purpose in ICICI bank, cenotaph road branch, Chennai.


    Public, Industry, Philanthropic organisations, NGOs / CBOs are requested to contribute to Animal Welfare Fund as much as possible for this noble cause for feeding street animals during the lockdown period. The Contributions may be sent through online transaction to the Bank account as detailed below:-

       Demand drafts and Cheques may be drawn in favour of “TAMILNADU ANIMAL WELFARE BOARD CSR FUNDS” and sent to the Member Secretary, Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board, Directorate of Animal husbandry and Veterinary Services, Veterinary Polyclinic Campus, No. 571, Anna salai, Nandanam, Chennai -35.

    The amount will be utilised for the procurement of Dry Feed and other foods by the Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board for the supply to the Street Animals through organizations involved in animal welfare activities in their respective areas, depending upon the need. It is also informed that feeder passes/animal rescue passes are being issued to individuals, animal welfare activists by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in all Districts in Collaboration with concerned local bodies. Interested individuals in the districts may contact the concerned Regional Joint Director of Animal Husbandry and the Volunteers in the limits of Greater Chennai Corporation may contact the Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Chennai-35 either in person or through e-mail tnawb2019@gmail.com for availing the passes.
